Jacob Ramsey scored the winning goal as Newcastle United claimed a rare away victory at Tottenham, easing pressure on head coach Eddie Howe and piling more pressure on Spurs boss Thomas Frank.
Both managers came into the Premier League match under scrutiny after poor runs of form. Newcastle struck first just before half-time when defender Malick Thiaw reacted quickest to score from close range. Spurs responded after the break through Archie Gray, but the comeback didn’t last long.
Anthony Gordon set up Ramsey, who finished smartly to score his first goal for Newcastle since joining from Aston Villa. Newcastle held on for only their third away league win of the season, moving up to 10th, while Tottenham slipped to 16th.
