Liverpool signing Jeremy Jacquet will miss some time after suffering a shoulder injury while playing for Rennes.
The 20-year-old French defender, who agreed to join Liverpool for £60m at the end of the season, fell awkwardly during Rennes’ 3-1 Ligue 1 loss to Lens. Defender Abdelhamid Ait Boudlal also picked up a muscular injury in the same match. Rennes boss Habib Beye said the injuries are “quite serious for both of them.”
Jacquet was signed by Liverpool in January after a deal for Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi fell through last summer. Chelsea had also been interested in the French Under-21 international, who Liverpool manager Arne Slot called a “very big talent.”
