Jordan Henderson has joined Chelsea on a two-year contract after mutually agreeing to terminate his deal with Brentford.
The 36-year-old midfielder arrives at Stamford Bridge with a wealth of experience, having captained Liverpool to the 2019-20 Premier League title while also winning the Champions League, FA Cup, two League Cups, the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup during a trophy-laden spell at Anfield.
Following his Liverpool departure in 2023, Henderson spent time with Saudi Pro League side Al-Ettifaq before joining Ajax in January 2024. He returned to the Premier League with Brentford last summer, making 32 league appearances during the 2025-26 campaign.
Speaking after completing the move, Henderson said:
"Given the size of the club, the manager, Xabi Alonso, who I have great admiration for, and the quality of the players, this was a huge opportunity I couldn't turn down.
"For me, it's about giving everything every single day, both on and off the pitch, to help the players around me and contribute to the team's success. I'm very excited to get started."
Henderson began his professional career at Sunderland, progressing through the club's academy before making his Premier League debut as a substitute against Chelsea in a 5-0 defeat on 1 November 2008. Nearly two decades later, the experienced England international now returns to west London as a Chelsea player.
