A couple of years ago, Newcastle were denied a famous win at the Parc des Princes due to a late controversial penalty, leaving a bitter memory. This time, Eddie Howe’s side came from behind and left with pride, earning the respect of their travelling fans.
The point doesn’t guarantee automatic qualification for the Champions League last 16, but Newcastle are well placed to progress if they build on this performance against Monaco or Qarabag. Howe said: “If there’s ever a game we need to give us confidence, it’s this one.”
