Celtic manager Wilfried Nancy says winning Sunday’s Premier Sports Cup final against St Mirren would prove that the ideas and style he’s bringing to the club are working.
Nancy lost his first two games as Celtic boss, with defeats to Hearts and Roma, and many fans were frustrated and confused by the timing of his appointment. But he says he’s staying positive and believes he’ll have plenty of chances to show supporters that he is the right person for the job.
He admits a trophy would be important for the players and fans, especially after two losses, but insists he’s not worrying about a possible third defeat.
Nancy has changed the team’s system to a back three, but some players are still adjusting to new roles, which has affected both the attack and defence. Despite the struggles, he feels the team is improving and that his ideas will eventually work.
He says there may be some doubt going into the cup final, but the players understand what needs to get better and what they’ve done well.
