Heggebo and Grant help West Brom beat Sheffield United.

West Bromwich Albion got an important win and ended Sheffield United’s six-game unbeaten run in the Championship.

Sheff Utd started better, with Gus Hamer forcing a good save from Joe Wildsmith in a fairly quiet first half.

Right after the break, West Brom went ahead when Aune Heggebo scored his seventh goal in seven games, finishing George Campbell’s low cross.
Ryan Mason’s side, who had only won once in their last five matches, took control after that and made it 2-0 when Karlan Grant smashed a shot in off the underside of the bar.

Replays showed Grant clipped Mark McGuinness’ heels while running onto Heggebo’s pass, but the second goal was well deserved. Ousmane Diakite could have added a third but missed from close range.

The win lifts Albion to 14th, just three points off the top six, while Chris Wilder’s Sheffield United stay 17th.
