Mohamed Salah was named among the substitutes for Liverpool’s Premier League match against Brighton.
It was his first time back in the squad after he said he felt he had been “thrown under the bus” by the club following last weekend’s 3-3 draw with Leeds. He also missed Liverpool’s recent Champions League win in Italy.
Salah is set to leave for the Africa Cup of Nations on Monday, and with strong interest from Saudi clubs, this could be one of his final appearances in a Liverpool squad. The club previously turned down a huge offer for him, and he still has 18 months left on his contract.
The 33-year-old has not started a game for Liverpool in five matches. He recently said he invited his family to the Brighton game, suggesting it might be a goodbye before heading off on international duty.
After talks with manager Arne Slot during the week, Salah was included in the squad, and his agent is expected to hold further discussions with the club while Salah is away at Afcon.
