Coventry City’s Mason-Clark scores as the league leaders beat Swansea City

0

Coventry City extended their lead at the top of the Championship to eight points thanks to Ephron Mason-Clark’s late first-half goal against Swansea City. Despite Swansea putting up a fight, Mason-Clark’s close-range finish, set up by a long throw from Milan van Ewijk, secured Coventry’s eighth straight home win.

Swansea had chances to equalise, including a close-range volley from Liam Cullen and efforts from Victor Torp and Tatsuhiro Sakamoto, but Coventry goalkeeper Carl Rushworth and the defence held strong. The win keeps Coventry 13 points clear of third place at the halfway point of the season, while Swansea slip to 20th, just four points above the relegation zone. Coventry have now taken 29 points from 11 home league games this season.
