Schmeichel urges Man Utd fans not to pressure Antony

Manchester United legend Peter Schmeichel has urged fans not to expect too much from Antony.

The former Ajax striker scored on debut in victory over Arsenal on Sunday.

Schmeichel told BBC Sport: "Manchester United spent a lot of money on him [Antony] and you have to put your faith in the manager that he knows what he is bringing in.

"We all know that, we have seen that so many times before there's a very big difference from coming from continental Europe, other big leagues and then coming in to the Premier League and on top of that also having to perform for a club like Manchester United.

"When it's going well we're all praising them and I hope that Antony is a guy that can do well every game.

"He's grabbing all the headlines today, of course he played really really well in his first game but not to put too much undue pressure on him we've got to let this young man settle in get used to the Premier League.

"It's not going to be an easy ride for him, it's not going to be an easy ride for anyone coming in to the Premier League.
