Sixty-seven players from Pakistan have registered for next month’s The Hundred auction, but Ben Stokes has not signed up.
Sources told BBC Sport that Pakistan players are not being considered by the four Indian-owned teams. A senior official from the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) suggested interest in Pakistan players would likely come only from teams not linked to the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Former England captain Michael Vaughan said the ECB must act quickly, adding that excluding players based on nationality should not be allowed.
Among the 63 men from Pakistan on the list are bowlers Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf. Women’s players registered include Muneeba Ali, Sadia Iqbal, Diana Baig and Fatima Sana.
An ECB spokesman said The Hundred welcomes players from around the world and expects all eight teams to reflect that.
