Tyson Fury has defended his decision to fight in front of a crowd of just 1,500 fans in Thailand, claiming many modern sports stars believe they are "bigger than they actually are."
The former heavyweight world champion, 37, will face Poland's Mariusz Wach, 46, in Pattaya on Friday as he continues his comeback journey.
A victory could pave the way for a highly anticipated clash with fellow Briton Anthony Joshua, provided Joshua defeats Kristian Prenga in his own warm-up fight in Saudi Arabia the following day.
Speaking at Wednesday's press conference, Fury questioned how many elite athletes would choose to compete in smaller venues rather than chase bigger financial opportunities.
"Which other world champion at my level would come and perform in front of 1,500 people in Pattaya?" Fury said.
"Do you think David Beckham would play professional football here, or someone famous like that? No chance. They just wouldn't do it."
Fury added that some high-profile athletes and celebrities have become too focused on their status, saying: "A lot of these big celebrities and sports stars think they're bigger than they actually are."
