Real Madrid have completed the signing of Netherlands international Denzel Dumfries from Inter Milan, with the experienced full-back putting pen to paper on a four-year contract.
Although the Spanish giants have not disclosed the transfer fee, reports indicate they activated the 30-year-old's €20 million (£17.1 million) release clause to secure his services.
Dumfries becomes Real Madrid's fourth signing of the summer, following the arrivals of Marc Cucurella, Bernardo Silva and Ibrahima Konaté. The Dutch defender is expected to provide strong competition for England international Trent Alexander-Arnold at right-back.
The attack-minded defender enjoyed a successful four-year spell at Inter after joining from PSV Eindhoven in 2021. During his time in Milan, he helped the Nerazzurri win two Serie A titles and three Coppa Italia trophies.
Dumfries made 207 appearances for Inter, contributing 27 goals and 28 assists, while also playing a key role for the Netherlands as they reached the Round of 32 at this summer's FIFA World Cup.
Real Madrid's move for Dumfries is part of a major rebuilding effort after the club ended last season without winning a trophy. Club president Florentino Pérez had pledged to strengthen the squad's defensive options during his successful re-election campaign, a process that has also seen José Mourinho return for a second spell as head coach.
