Rangers Reject Simon's Claims of Ethnic Discrimination

Enugu Rangers have dismissed allegations by Super Eagles winger Moses Simon that he was denied a professional contract because he is not Igbo.

Simon, speaking in an interview with UrbanDwellSport, claimed he spent three months on trial with the club but was overlooked in favour of another player who secured a contract after just one training session.

“I was dropped because I was not Igbo, not because of my performance,” Simon said.

In response, Rangers issued a statement through chief executive officer Amobi Ezeaku, strongly denying any form of ethnic discrimination in the club's recruitment process.

The club stressed that it has never operated a policy based on ethnicity, tribe, religion or place of origin, insisting its selection process has always been based on merit.

Rangers also pointed to their more than 50-year history, maintaining that despite their South-East roots, they have consistently welcomed and developed players from across Nigeria without bias.
