Nigeria Could Host Joshua-Itauma Clash After Fury Fight

Nigerian boxing promoter Ezekiel Adamu has revealed ambitious plans to stage a blockbuster heavyweight clash between Anthony Joshua and Moses Itauma in Nigeria next year, once Joshua’s proposed fight with Tyson Fury is concluded.

The Balmoral Promotions chief said discussions have already been held with Chris Eubank Jr over the possibility of the British star headlining a boxing event in Nigeria in December, while Joshua and Itauma remain key long-term targets.

Adamu disclosed that he previously made an offer to bring Joshua to Nigeria and has also held talks with veteran promoter Frank Warren about staging an Itauma fight in the country.

“I am 100 per cent certain that at some point we will have Joshua fight here in Nigeria,” Adamu told PA.

“We’re building momentum. Hopefully, we can get Chris Eubank Jr to fight here in December, and then push on from there.”

He added that Warren is open to the idea of Itauma fighting in Nigeria and revealed the British-Nigerian heavyweight is eager to compete in his ancestral homeland.

“Moses knows his roots and would like to fight here. Putting on an AJ vs Moses fight in Nigeria would be unreal and a major blockbuster,” Adamu said.
