Super Eagles invitee Gift Orban is on the verge of completing a season-long loan move to newly promoted Turkish Super Lig side Amedspor from Bundesliga club TSG Hoffenheim, becoming the latest Nigerian player to head to Turkey.

According to Turkish journalist Ertan Suzgun, Hoffenheim and Amedspor have reached a full verbal agreement on a loan deal for the 2026/27 season. The agreement includes an option for the Turkish club to make the transfer permanent when the loan expires next summer.

Orban has already agreed personal terms with Amedspor and is expected to travel to Turkey in the coming days for a medical before the move is officially confirmed.

The transfer comes after the striker returned to Hoffenheim following a season-long loan spell at Italian club Hellas Verona. The Serie A side decided against activating the purchase option in his contract after suffering relegation at the end of last season.

Despite Verona's difficult campaign, the 24-year-old impressed with seven goals and two assists in 28 league appearances. He remains under contract with Hoffenheim until June 2029 and is currently valued at around €7 million by Transfermarkt.

Born in Benue State to a Nigerian father and Togolese mother, Orban rose to prominence after leaving Nigerian side Bison FC for Norwegian club Stabaek in 2022. He enjoyed a breakthrough campaign, scoring 16 league goals in 22 matches to finish as the division's top scorer, win the Young Player of the Year award, and help Stabaek secure promotion.
