Nigerian boxing champion Lekan “The Engine” Muibi will have to wait longer for his shot at the WBO Africa cruiserweight title after opponent Godday Appah withdrew from their scheduled July 31 bout due to an injury sustained in training.
The fight, which was set to take place in Lagos and be broadcast live on DAZN, would have seen the unbeaten Muibi (20-0, 19 KOs) move up in weight to challenge Appah (15-2, 13 KOs) for the regional title.
Reacting to the postponement, Muibi’s management, Quadriga Sports Management, wished Appah a speedy recovery and expressed hope that the bout would be rescheduled once he is fit.
Despite the delay, Muibi remains focused and ready to challenge for the WBO Africa cruiserweight belt when a new fight date is announced.
