Nigerian-American forward Chimezie Metu is on the verge of joining Turkish giants Galatasaray Istanbul as he closes in on a move to the club ahead of the new season.
The former NBA and Barcelona star has attracted interest from several EuroLeague sides, but Galatasaray have emerged as the favourites to secure his signature as they strengthen their squad for a Basketball Champions League title push.
Metu is coming off an impressive spell with Spanish side Gran Canaria, whom he joined midway through the 2025/26 campaign.
The experienced forward made a remarkable comeback after rupturing his Achilles tendon in March 2025, averaging 14.1 points and 4.5 rebounds in 26 minutes per game across 12 ACB League appearances. He also shot 50 per cent from the field and 36.5 per cent from beyond the arc.
The 28-year-old reached double figures in 11 of his 12 league outings, with standout performances including 18 points against Baskonia, 17 points and eight rebounds versus Unicaja, and a 15-point display against Valencia Basket.
His consistent performances have reaffirmed his quality, and Galatasaray are now poised to secure the services of one of Europe's most in-form forwards.
