Olympic silver medallist Katarina Johnson-Thompson has withdrawn from the Commonwealth Games due to injury, dealing a major blow to Team England ahead of the athletics competition in Glasgow.
Sprint star Dina Asher-Smith, Olympic 400m silver medallist Matt Hudson-Smith, Daryll Neita, and Amber Anning have also been replaced in England's squad.
Johnson-Thompson, who won Commonwealth heptathlon gold in 2018 and 2022, said she has not recovered sufficiently to compete and will instead focus on next month's European Championships.
Niamh Emerson has been named as her replacement.
The withdrawals come after Olympic 800m champion Keely Hodgkinson also opted to skip the Games to prioritise the European Championships, leaving Team England without several of its biggest athletics stars.
