RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande has agreed personal terms with Real Madrid, paving the way for a blockbuster move after Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) officially withdrew from the race for the highly rated teenager.
The 19-year-old Ivory Coast international had also attracted strong interest from Liverpool, whose opening £69 millionbid was rejected by Leipzig in June. The Premier League champions later shifted their focus to alternative targets, leaving Real Madrid and PSG to battle for the youngster's signature.
PSG reportedly saw a final £102.5 million offer rejected on Sunday before deciding to walk away from negotiations. Real Madrid have since reached an agreement on personal terms with Diomande, with a contract believed to be structured similarly to Jude Bellingham's performance-based deal, allowing his earnings to increase through bonuses and achievements.
The Spanish giants are expected to pay more than £100 million to secure Diomande, who only joined RB Leipzig from Spanish side Leganés last summer on a five-year contract.
Sources close to Real Madrid say chief executive José Ángel Sánchez and head scout Juni Calafat have monitored Diomande's progress for nearly five years. Their admiration reportedly predates his recent rise and was not influenced solely by his World Cup performances.
PSG had been considered favourites to sign the Ivorian until Madrid entered the race. Confirming their withdrawal, the French champions released a statement explaining their stance.
"The asking transfer fee and salary demands were completely disproportionate and distortive, and PSG will not break its principles of rational financial management and squad balance.
As a two-time consecutive Champions League winner and one of Europe's most successful clubs in recent years, PSG will also not engage in the inflationary and manipulative games of certain player agents. Instead, we will calmly and confidently continue our transfer planning."
Leipzig had hoped to keep Diomande in Germany but recognised the extraordinary interest from Europe's biggest clubs, making it increasingly difficult to turn down a potential club-record transfer fee.
Diomande enjoyed a breakthrough 2025–26 campaign, winning the Bundesliga Young Player of the Season award after scoring 12 goals and providing eight assists.
His remarkable rise began after leaving his native Ivory Coast to join an academy in the United States before earning a move to Leganés, from where he completed his transfer to RB Leipzig last summer.
