Nigerian winger Samuel Chukwueze could have a fresh opportunity to revive his AC Milan career under new head coach Ruben Amorim, who has officially taken charge at the Italian giants.
Despite ongoing speculation over his future, Chukwueze is keen to remain at Milan and compete for a place in Amorim’s squad rather than pursue a move away from the club.
The Super Eagles forward was the subject of transfer discussions between Milan and Turkish side Trabzonspor, but he was not interested in the switch. Milan also turned down a reported €15 million offer from the Super Lig club.
Chukwueze returned to San Siro after spending last season on loan at Fulham, with the Premier League club deciding against activating the €26 million purchase option included in the agreement.
During his spell in England, the 26-year-old impressed with Fulham, scoring three goals and providing four assists in 23 league appearances while building a strong connection with fellow Nigerians Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey.
Reports from Milan suggest Amorim will now have a key role in shaping the club’s transfer plans for the remainder of the summer, following the Rossoneri’s decision to invest over €100 million in two new signings earlier in the window.
Chukwueze will hope the arrival of the former Manchester United manager marks the beginning of a new chapter in his Milan career.
