Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso says he already has a plan to pair new signing Morgan Rogers with Cole Palmer, insisting the two England internationals can form a strong partnership.
Rogers, who joined Chelsea from Aston Villa in a club-record £117 million deal, is expected to make an immediate impact despite still being on holiday after the World Cup.
"In that position we needed an important player, and I'm sure there were not many better options than Morgan Rogers," Alonso said.
"You need players who can have that almost instant impact, and I'm sure Morgan won't need much time to adapt."
The 24-year-old has signed a six-year contract at Stamford Bridge, with the option of a further year.
Alonso is also confident Rogers and Palmer—who are close friends off the pitch—will complement each other on it.
"I have a plan. I have an idea. I can see them linking really well," Alonso said.
"If we get the right balance and put those special players in the right positions, we'll be more competitive both with and without the ball."
