The New York Knicks edged past the San Antonio Spurs 105-104 to take a commanding 2-0 lead in the NBA Finals and move closer to a first championship in 53 years.
The game was decided in dramatic fashion with just 9.5 seconds remaining when Jalen Brunson stole possession after Victor Wembanyama's pass struck teammate Stephon Castle in the back.
Wembanyama then committed a foul, allowing Benson to convert the decisive free throw and put the Knicks ahead.
The Spurs star still had a chance to force overtime, but his 20-foot jumper at the buzzer missed the target, handing New York its 13th consecutive playoff victory.
Wembanyama has been a central figure throughout the Finals, having also been involved in an unusual incident during Game 1 when a spectator ran onto the court and approached him while filming on a mobile phone.
