Despite limited game time, Scotland goalkeeper Liam Kelly has become an unlikely but important figure in the national team setup, earning a reputation as the squad's "hype man."
The 30-year-old, who has three international caps and made just three appearances for Rangers last season, is set to travel to the World Cup as Scotland's third-choice goalkeeper.
Laughing off the label, Kelly joked that his role comes naturally when you're not playing regularly.
“You need to bring something to the party,” he said.
While his chances of adding significantly to his cap tally may depend on injuries ahead of him, Kelly's influence behind the scenes has not gone unnoticed. His focus is simple: keep spirits high and ensure his teammates give everything on the pitch.
“When the boys go into the game, I just want them to give it their full whack,” he said. “Don’t disappoint the opposition by bringing half measures — just go for it.”
