Manchester City midfielder Rodri says he will wait until after the World Cup to decide his future amid growing links with a move to Real Madrid.
The 29-year-old Spain international has just one year left on his City contract and has previously admitted he could return to play in his home country in the future.
Rodri is reportedly a potential target for Real Madrid presidential candidate Enrique Riquelme, who is challenging Florentino Pérez in this weekend’s election.
“With a World Cup ahead, my responsibility is to stay focused,” Rodri said. “Anything related to my future will wait until after the World Cup.”
Since joining City from Atletico Madrid in 2019, Rodri has been central to the club’s success, winning four Premier League titles and the Champions League. He also claimed the Ballon d’Or in 2024, although injuries have disrupted his recent seasons following a serious knee injury in 2024.
Rodri added that speculation around his future is “normal” given his contract situation, insisting he remains calm despite ongoing transfer rumours.
