Super Eagles winger Femi Azeez could be forced to explore alternatives to Aston Villa in his bid for a Premier League breakthrough this summer, with Millwall’s £30m valuation and competition from a more proven target threatening to derail a move to Villa Park.
The 25-year-old enjoyed the best season of his career in the EFL Championship, registering 18 goal contributions to earn a place in the division’s Team of the Season.
According to Football Insider, Azeez’s impressive campaign has put him on Aston Villa’s radar as manager Unai Emery looks to strengthen his attacking options ahead of another UEFA Champions League campaign. However, any potential deal is complicated by both Millwall’s valuation and Villa’s transfer priorities.
Millwall are standing firm on a £30m asking price after rejecting a £20m bid from Ipswich Town. For Villa, that represents a substantial investment in a player yet to make his Premier League debut, especially when a more experienced option is also under consideration.
That alternative is Netherlands international Crysencio Summerville, who has further enhanced his reputation with impressive displays at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. With Premier League experience and a proven ability to perform at the highest level, Summerville is viewed as a lower-risk option for Villa’s recruitment team.
Crystal Palace and Ipswich remain interested in Azeez, strengthening Millwall’s negotiating position and reducing the likelihood of Villa increasing their offer to meet the Championship club’s valuation.
Timing also remains a key factor. Villa require players capable of making an immediate impact as they prepare to balance the demands of Champions League football with domestic competitions. While Azeez is widely regarded as one of the Championship’s brightest attacking talents, the step up to both the Premier League and European football could require an adjustment period Villa may not be willing to accommodate.
