The organising committee of Tour D’Afrique 2026 has declared the seventh edition of the cross-border cycling expedition a success after a 30-member contingent completed a 1,110km journey across Nigeria, Benin Republic, Togo and Ghana.
The final 145km stage from Cotonou to Lagos concluded the seven-day ride, held under the theme Ride Against Climate Change.
The team, comprising 20 professional cyclists and 10 support staff, received a warm welcome in Lagos from the state’s incoming Deputy Governor, Princess Damilola Sonayan James.
Participants praised the support they received in Benin Republic, particularly the enthusiastic crowds and police escort, while the organisers commended the cyclists’ resilience throughout the demanding expedition.
“You endured rain and sun, day and night, delays and fatigue. Today, you are part of history,” the committee said.
