Manchester City have completed the signing of England forward Beth Mead on a free transfer following her departure from Arsenal.
The 31-year-old has agreed a three-year contract with the reigning Women's Super League champions after bringing an end to her nine-year stay with the Gunners when her contract expired in May.
One of England's most decorated players, Mead has earned 81 international caps and played a key role in the Lionesses' back-to-back European Championship triumphs in 2022 and 2025. She also found the net in England's recent victory over Ukraine on Tuesday.
Speaking after completing the move, Mead said joining City was an easy decision.
"It was a no-brainer for me," she said. "I think the way City play suits me really well and can get something extra out of my game."
The experienced winger is expected to be joined at the club by England team-mate Niamh Charles after City agreed a transfer fee with Chelsea earlier this week.
Mead leaves Arsenal as one of the most successful players in the club's recent history. During her time in north London, she helped the Gunners win the Women's Super League title, the UEFA Women's Champions League and three League Cups.
She received an emotional farewell from supporters during Arsenal's final home game of the season against Everton in May but said she is excited to begin a new chapter in her career.
"I'm very proud to be here," Mead added. "I think this is a place where I can really fit in and help bring a different dynamic to the team."
Manchester City's director of women's football, Therese Sjogran, hailed the signing as a major statement of intent as the club looks to build on last season's success.
"Beth's achievements in the game speak for themselves," Sjogran said. "Winning the Double last season was a special chapter in our history, but it's one we want to build on in the coming seasons.
"Signing a player of Beth's quality and calibre can only help that happen."
Mead joins an already formidable attacking unit at City, featuring fellow England international Lauren Hemp, Brazilian forward Kerolin, Dutch striker Vivianne Miedema and Women's Super League Player of the Season Khadija Shaw, who recently committed her future to Andree Jeglertz's side.
The addition of Mead further strengthens City's title-winning squad as they prepare to defend their domestic crown and compete for more silverware in the seasons ahead.
