Crystal Palace Appoint Sage as Head Coach on Three-Year Deal

Crystal Palace have appointed former Lens manager Pierre Sage as their new head coach on a three-year contract.

The 47-year-old Frenchman succeeds Oliver Glasner, who departed the Eagles at the end of the 2025-26 season after two and a half years in charge.

Sage arrives at Selhurst Park after an outstanding spell with Lens. During his 12 months at the club, he was named Ligue 1 Manager of the Year, guiding Lens to a second-place finish and their first Coupe de France title in the club's 120-year history.

Before his success at Lens, Sage spent 14 months as Lyon's head coach, initially taking the role on an interim basis before leading the club to Europa League qualification in the 2024-25 season.

Palace had reportedly considered several candidates for the role, including former Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola, now at Liverpool, as well as Frank Lampard, Kieran McKenna and Sean Dyche.

Sage faces the challenge of building on the remarkable legacy left by Glasner, who announced in January that he would step down this summer after delivering the most successful period in the club's history.

Under the Austrian, Palace lifted the first major trophy in their history by winning the FA Cup in 2025, before adding the Community Shield and UEFA Conference League titles last season. Their European success has secured a place in next season's Europa League, which will mark Sage's first campaign in charge.

Sage will be joined in south London by his former Lens assistant, Jamal Alioui.

"Oliver Glasner achieved some amazing things, and now I have to do the same," Sage said.

"That's why we come here with a lot of ambition. The dynamic here is really positive, and we share that mindset.

"We won last year, and we want to continue in that direction—at a new club, with a new project, but with the same winning mentality."
