Bellingham must fight for England place, says Tuchel

Jude Bellingham faces strong competition for a place in England’s starting XI at the World Cup, according to manager Thomas Tuchel.

The Real Madrid midfielder has started just four matches since Tuchel took charge of England in January 2025, adding three further appearances from the bench.

Tuchel has often preferred Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers, who has featured in 12 of his 13 games in charge and played in all eight of England’s World Cup qualifiers.

Asked whether Bellingham has a fight to earn a starting role, Tuchel said: “Yes, he has.

“He is one of the starters, he knows he is one of the starters, but we have 14 or 15 potential starters.

“These roles can always change, but at the moment there are 14 or 15 proper starters and Jude is one of them.”
