Kimi Antonelli delivered a commanding performance to win the Monaco Grand Prix, finishing ahead of Lewis Hamilton after a dramatic race featuring two safety cars and a red flag.
The 19-year-old Italian secured his fifth consecutive victory, extending his lead at the top of the championship standings. Combined with a difficult afternoon for Mercedes teammate George Russell, who finished 13th and out of the points, Antonelli now holds a commanding 66-point advantage over Hamilton.
Russell’s race unravelled after a drive-through penalty dropped him to the back of the field following a restart, dealing a major blow to his title hopes.
Pierre Gasly initially crossed the line in third for Alpine F1 Team but was later demoted to seventh after receiving a penalty for speeding in the pit lane. That promoted Isack Hadjar to his first Monaco podium for Red Bull Racing, with Oscar Piastri finishing fourth on McLaren’s 1,000th Grand Prix weekend.
The race was marked by late drama, a series of pit-lane speeding penalties, and track surface issues, while a costly mistake from hometown favourite Charles Leclerc added to the chaos of an unforgettable Monaco Grand Prix.
