Former Chelsea defender Jason Cundy has backed Declan Rice to become Arsenal’s next captain if Martin Ødegaard leaves the club.
Speaking on talkSPORT, Cundy praised Rice’s defensive strength and leadership qualities, calling him a “monster” defensively and highlighting his composure on the ball.
“When he goes forward, he carries the team. He’s brilliant and in control,” Cundy said, adding that Rice could eventually become both England and Arsenal captain.
Ødegaard has recently been linked with a potential exit from the Emirates, though his future remains uncertain.
