Former Nigerian international Dosu Joseph has urged football authorities to prioritise improved welfare for both players and coaches, stressing that better support systems are essential for the growth and sustainability of the game.
He noted that while Nigerian football continues to produce talented players and committed coaches, many still face challenges related to poor welfare structures, delayed payments, and inadequate support during and after their careers.
Dosu emphasised that improving conditions would not only boost performance on the pitch but also help retain experienced professionals within the local football ecosystem. He added that stronger welfare policies would contribute to long-term development and make the league more competitive.
The former goalkeeper called on stakeholders to take urgent steps to address these issues, insisting that football development cannot progress meaningfully without prioritising the people behind the game.
For him, the message is simple: investing in players and coaches is investing in the future of Nigerian football.
