New Super Eagles goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo says his ambition is to “win trophies” with the Nigerian national team after switching allegiance from England to Nigeria.
Okonkwo, who recently received his first Super Eagles call-up, explained that representing Nigeria is deeply personal and tied to his roots. He said:
“The reason for my decision is that I aspire to win trophies for my country.”
The former England youth international added that he understands “how much Nigerians cherish football” and wants to contribute to the success of the Nigeria national football team.
Okonkwo, who plays for Wrexham A.F.C., officially switched his international allegiance to Nigeria earlier this year after discussions with the Super Eagles coaching staff began last summer.
