Atalanta are considering a summer move for Super Eagles left-back Zaidu Sanusi as the Serie A side plans a major rebuild after a disappointing 2025/26 campaign, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
The Bergamo-based club missed out on a top-four finish in Serie A and ended the season without silverware, prompting expectations of sweeping changes. Manager Raffaele Palladino’s future remains uncertain, with former Lazio boss Maurizio Sarri reportedly among the candidates being considered as a replacement.
In a bid to strengthen the squad, Atalanta have identified Sanusi as a potential target, with the Nigerian defender’s experience at the highest level of European football seen as a key attraction.
Sanusi began his professional career with Gil Vicente before moving to Santa Clara and eventually joining Porto in 2020, where he established himself as an important member of the squad. He played a decisive role in Porto’s 2021/22 Portuguese league triumph, scoring the winner in a 1-0 victory over Benfica that sealed the title.
