
Former Arsenal goalkeeper Alex Manninger has died at the age of 48 after his car was hit by a train.
Manninger made 64 appearances for Arsenal between 1997 and 2002, helping the club win the Premier League and FA Cup. He played an important role during the 1997–98 season when he stepped in for injured first-choice keeper David Seaman and delivered standout performances.
The Austrian international earned 33 caps for his country and was part of the squad for Euro 2008, hosted in Austria. Over his career, he played for several clubs across Europe, including Juventus, Udinese, and Augsburg.
Tributes have been paid following his death, with Austrian football officials praising his professionalism, reliability, and contribution to the game both on and off the pitch.
