England fast bowler Brydon Carse has been ruled out of his Indian Premier League (IPL) spell with Sunrisers Hyderabad after suffering a hand injury.
The 30-year-old picked up the injury to his bowling hand during training and will return home for further assessment. This is the second straight season he has missed out on playing for the franchise after previously withdrawing due to a toe injury.
His fitness could also affect his availability for England’s first Test of the summer against New Zealand on 4 June, with the IPL ending just days before the match at Lord’s.
England may now look at other pace options for the Test squad, with several bowlers in contention depending on fitness and form.
