Laura Cardoso of Brazil made history by becoming the first player ever to take nine wickets in a T20 international, recording figures of 9-4 against Lesotho.
The 21-year-old seamer achieved the feat in just three overs as Lesotho were bowled out for 13 while chasing 203. Her performance breaks the previous men's record of eight wickets by Bhutan’s Sonam Yeshey and the women’s record of seven wickets by Indonesia’s Rohmalia Rohmalia.
Roberta Moretti Avery praised Cardoso’s talent, saying she has the potential to play at elite levels in England and Australia. Cardoso started her incredible spell by taking five wickets in consecutive deliveries and finished with nine wickets, narrowly missing out on a 10-wicket haul.
Brazil remain unbeaten in five matches at the Kalahari Women's T20 tournament in Gaborone, Botswana.
