
Aston Villa took a big step toward the Europa League semi-finals with a hard-fought 3-1 win over Bologna in Italy.
Ezri Konsa gave Villa the lead with a header just before half-time, before Ollie Watkins doubled the advantage early in the second half.
Bologna’s Jonathan Rowe pulled one back late on, but Watkins struck again in stoppage time to secure Villa’s two-goal cushion heading into the second leg.
Villa survived heavy pressure in the first half, including a disallowed goal and a shot off the crossbar, before taking their chances to seal the win.
