The Six Nations trophy will be retired from ceremonial use after being damaged by fire while being transported during the tournament.
An incident involving the vehicle carrying the trophy happened during round three of the Guinness Men's Six Nations. No one was injured, but the trophy suffered fire damage and cannot be fully restored, according to the official manufacturer.
An identical exhibition trophy will now be used for the rest of the championship, and a new trophy will be made in time for the 2027 Six Nations. Some materials from the original will be included in the new version to preserve its history.
The current trophy, made of silver and created in 2015, will now be permanently retired from official presentations.
