Former Celtic and Scotland captain Scott Brown has stepped down as Ayr United manager by mutual consent after a poor run of results.
The 40-year-old leaves Somerset Park along with assistant Steven Whittaker after the team went nine games without a win. Ayr dropped to sixth in the Scottish Championship after a 3-0 loss to Raith Rovers and are now outside the promotion play-off spots.
Brown had joined Ayr United in January 2024 and initially helped the team avoid relegation before finishing third last season. However, recent poor performances led to his exit.
