Owen Farrell Expects talks with the Irish Rugby Football Union Over his Future

0

Andy Farrell says he expects to hold talks with the Irish Rugby Football Union about his future after being linked with a return to Saracens.

Saracens denied reports they had offered Farrell a coaching role after the 2027 Rugby World Cup, calling the claims “disrespectful” and confirming no offer had been made. The speculation followed reports he could return to the club, where his son Owen Farrell plays, once his Ireland contract ends.

Farrell said he understands why the links were made but described it as “people putting two and two together and making five”. He added that discussions with the IRFU will take place in the near future but insisted his focus remains on the Six Nations.

The 50-year-old has led Ireland to two Six Nations titles, including a 2023 Grand Slam, and also coached the British & Irish Lions to a series win over Australia national rugby union team.

Farrell has made five changes for Ireland’s upcoming Six Nations clash with Wales national rugby union team, rewarding several Ulster Rugby players for their strong form this season.
