Harry Maguire has been given a reduced 15-month suspended sentence by a Greek court over a 2020 incident in Mykonos.
The Manchester United defender was originally handed a 21-month and 10-day suspended prison sentence in 2020 after being found guilty of bodily harm, attempted bribery, violence against public employees and insult.
He appealed the decision the next day, which under Greek law cancelled the conviction and led to a full retrial. After several delays, the retrial restarted in Syros and ruled that Maguire was guilty of non-serious assault, resisting arrest and attempted bribery. His sentence was reduced to 15 months because of the lesser charges.
Sources say Maguire denies any wrongdoing and plans to appeal to the Supreme Court, as he wants to clear his name. The 32-year-old remains in the Manchester United squad for their Premier League match against Newcastle United despite recently coming off ill against Crystal Palace.
