Ireland national rugby union team experienced excitement, hope, and then disappointment as the Six Nations Championship title race ended in dramatic fashion.
Ireland beat Scotland national rugby union team 43-21 to win the Triple Crown and move ahead of France national rugby union team in the standings.
However, Ireland needed England national rugby union team to beat France in the final match to secure the championship. England briefly led late in the game, raising Ireland’s hopes, but France full-back Thomas Ramos scored a late penalty to win the match and deny Ireland the title.
Despite missing out on the trophy, Ireland can take positives from their campaign. After losing their opening match in Paris, coach Andy Farrell guided the team to strong performances that kept them in the title race until the very end.
