Jadon Sancho will miss the Premier League match between Manchester United and Aston Villa at Old Trafford because loan players are not allowed to play against their parent club.
Sancho joined Manchester United from Borussia Dortmund in 2021 on a five-year contract and called the move a “dream come true.” However, his time at the club has not gone as planned.
The last time Sancho played at Old Trafford was in August 2023 against Nottingham Forest. Since then, he has spent much of his time away from United on loan spells, including moves to Dortmund, Chelsea, and now Aston Villa.
Sancho made only 30 Premier League appearances at Old Trafford and played a full match just 10 times. Because of these struggles, even United co-owner Jim Ratcliffe was surprised that the club still had to pay part of Sancho’s transfer fee and wages.
What was meant to be a dream move for Sancho at Manchester United has instead turned into a difficult period for both the player and the club.
