Dave Rennie has been appointed the new head coach of the New Zealand national rugby union team, becoming the first person of Pasifika heritage to lead the side.
The 62-year-old replaces Scott Robertson, who was sacked in January after a series of high-profile defeats. Rennie beat Jamie Joseph to the role and will guide New Zealand towards the next Rugby World Cup in Australia.
Rennie said he is “extremely proud and honoured” but knows the expectations are high as the All Blacks aim for a fourth World Cup title.
