Aston Martin want Audi team boss Jonathan Wheatley to take charge of their struggling Formula 1 team.
Team owner Lawrence Stroll has already made him an offer to lead the race team, while Adrian Newey focuses on designing the car. However, no deal has been signed yet, and Wheatley’s current contract with Audi could delay any move.
Wheatley is reportedly interested, partly because he wants to return to the UK.
Aston Martin are having a poor season and currently sit last in the championship. Their car is not competitive yet, and their Honda engine has serious problems with power, reliability, and strong vibrations affecting drivers like Fernando Alonso.
Signing Wheatley would help fix leadership issues and allow Newey to concentrate fully on improving the car.
