The Seattle Seahawks produced a dominant defensive performance to beat the New England Patriots 29-13 and claim their second Super Bowl title.
Seattle’s defence, nicknamed “the Dark Side,” forced three turnovers, recorded six sacks, and scored a defensive touchdown, completely stifling Patriots quarterback Drake Maye. Tight end AJ Barner scored after a turnover, and linebacker Uchenna Nwosu returned an interception for 45 yards to add another touchdown. Kicker Jason Meyers also set a record with five field goals.
Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald praised his team, saying, “We were the better team; we’re the best team… We went to the dark side tonight. We loved our players – they made it happen.” Briton Aden Durde made history as the first overseas coach to win the Super Bowl.
