Lando Norris’ confidence is “even higher” ahead of the 2026 Formula 1 season after winning his first drivers’ title last year, according to McLaren CEO Zak Brown. Brown says Norris is eager to defend his crown and wants to win more championships.
Speaking as McLaren unveiled their new car before pre-season testing in Bahrain, Brown said Norris is highly motivated and aiming to become a multiple title winner. He added that team-mate Oscar Piastri will again be a strong rival, after leading the championship for much of last season before fading late on.
Brown compared Norris’ mindset to champions like Lewis Hamilton, Max Verstappen and Michael Schumacher, saying he wants to win again, not relax after one title. McLaren will once more allow Norris and Piastri to race each other for the championship.
Brown is confident McLaren will be competitive when the season starts at the Australian Grand Prix on 6–8 March, but said it is still too early to make firm predictions, with Mercedes, Ferrari and Red Bull also looking strong.
