Madsen dislocates shoulder as Italy make World Cup debut

Italy captain Wayne Madsen dislocated his left shoulder early in his team’s first-ever T20 World Cup match against Scotland.

The 42-year-old was injured while attempting a diving stop in the fourth over and was forced to leave the field straight away. Scotland went on to score 207-4 from their 20 overs.

Madsen’s shoulder was put back in place, but he will have further scans to assess the damage, and his involvement for the rest of the tournament is in doubt. Italy head coach John Davison said it is unlikely Madsen will be fit to play again soon.

Italy next face Nepal before matches against England and West Indies later in the group stage.
