The Kansas City Chiefs say they have had “positive” talks with Travis Kelce about his future and are prepared if the 37-year-old decides to retire.
Kelce has thought about retirement in recent off-seasons but has always returned on short-term deals. However, after a disappointing campaign in which the Chiefs failed to reach the post-season, he is again considering his future.
Chiefs general manager Brett Veach said the club has a plan either way. Kelce, a three-time Super Bowl winner who has played 13 NFL seasons, signed a one-year deal after the 2025 Super Bowl defeat to the Philadelphia Eagles.
Last season he recorded 851 yards and five touchdowns, with 76 receptions — his lowest since 2015.
Veach praised Kelce as an icon and said the team will continue discussions before a final decision is made.
